Know your one-off find

Clothing condition
explained.

Use the grade as a starting point, then read the notes and inspect the actual garment photographs. A general grade never replaces the details of that individual item.

New with tags

Recorded as unworn with original tags attached. Check the photos and notes for any storage marks or other disclosed faults.

New without tags

Recorded as unworn, without original tags. The photos and notes describe the actual item, including any disclosed marks.

Excellent preloved

Very little visible wear is recorded. This is still a preloved garment; check the notes and close-up photos.

Very good preloved

Light signs of previous wear may be visible. Read the individual notes for fading, pilling or other details.

Good preloved

Visible everyday wear may be present. The grade does not mean fault-free: check the photos and notes for the specific wear.

Fair / visibly worn

More noticeable wear, marks or faults are recorded. Inspect the description and every photo before deciding whether that condition suits you.

Preloved — see item notes

Previously owned; no more specific overall grade is established by this wording. Use the individual description, seller’s note and photos, or ask us for clarification.

Different wording, the same buying checks

Older listings may say “Pre-owned Good”, “Good preloved” or simply “Good”. These refer to the same general good-condition description above. “Pre-owned” and “preloved” both mean previously owned. Wording such as “distressed”, “marked”, “small tear” or “raw hems” remains an important separate part of the listing.

Distressing, repairs and alterations

A faded wash, raw hem or torn area may be part of a garment’s style, previous wear or an alteration. We do not treat it as deliberate design unless the listing supports that. Check the notes and close-ups, and ask whether an unclear detail is damage before paying.

For jeans, inspect the inner thighs, seat, knees, pocket edges and hems. For tops and outerwear, check cuffs, underarms, collars, fastenings and decoration. Ask about a feature or its working condition when it is not established by the listing.

Missing labels or details

A missing care label does not establish a fabric blend, and a missing size label does not establish a UK size. Use recorded measurements and any available label photographs. Contact us with the BP code when a detail you need is missing.
